Where does it go ?!

Where does it go ?!

I removed the Air Cleaner today and found this tube(marked in RED) going from the passenger side valve cover to nowhere.
I’ve owned the vehicle for over a year now and cannot recall seeing this tube hanging around there before.
And even two days ago when i adjusted the idle on carb i didn’t recognize it.
the drivers side PCV is connected to the air cleaner housing.

Anyone have an idea where to look for a connection?

Does is also have to be connected somewhere on the air cleaner? Im lost...
i remember clearly the pcv connection on the edelbrock (middle nibble between A/F-screws) has always been disconnected and covered.

I'm betting the reason you've never seen it is because someone disconnected it and stuck it under the AC hoses or just let it lay loose. I'm not positive about the configuration of that hose for a 1967 442, but my guess is it goes into the carburetor port in front directly below the Edelbrock label. Indeed, the port you already suspect which has been covered. In fact, that carb port already appears modestly sooty just looking at it. Others w/ a 1967 will surely assist you w/ better information.

Yes that makes total sense and you are right, those sooty trace tells that it must have been connected there before. But why remove it again...
Do you think i will have to adjust the idle and A/F mixture again when connected?

Ahaa, so that hose on the passenger side must be the actual PCV-Valve and the one connected to the air cleaner is just the “breather”?

thanks for the quick reply, will check it out tomorrow. I kind of had the urge to just plug it on there but was afraid that it blows up so i wanted to get some professional input first.

Regarding A/F mixture. Plug that PCV line or hook it up then readjust your A/F mixture. Unplug the PVC hose (if you plugged it) then hook it back up when you're done adjusting the A/F mixture.

It looks t like the pcv valve to intake connection. Hose looks a little long like they were going for a road draft tube. At that connection There should be a pcv valve in the valve cover grommet and a suitable hose connecting the the large intake vacuum port on the carb. You are going to have to readjust your idle mixture and speed after it is corrected.

If you're going to keep the car a long time, buy a Chassis Service Manual (CSM) which is the biblical authority for your car. I don't know where you're located but w/ a CO member name of LomitaToHamburg, I'm guessing Germany?

Adding to what Gary (gs72) stated, if it were me, I'd ensure that PCV hose was new and or completely clean inside and contained the correct PCV valve before you hook it up permanently. There may even be a chance the prior owner couldn't find the PCV valve, didn't want to change it because it was clogged or whatever reason - but ensure that line is clean and the right PCV valve.

And, just to add. Make sure it's a vacuum hose of the proper size and has a proper solid/rigid thickness - the casing needs to be rigid not soft. Sometimes parts houses just cut hose or people plain don't know one type rubber hose from the other.

Im already checking for that chassis manual, but probably will have to order it from the US. Hard to get good stuff like that here in Germany.

Here is an original paperback General Motors CSM. Don't buy the DVD/CD versions - they're not worth it. The same can almost be said about non-original duplicates. If I find one in Germany or Europe I'll post it here. Good Luck!

PCV-Valve and hose were still functioning and fitting, so it all worked AND also fixed the hot-engine idling problem after start up I’ve had. (Still have no idea why the previous owner disconnected it and left it hanging in the compartment.) So I am more than happy ! Thanks again!

By the way, i ordered the manual you recommended which seemed like a very good investment.
