Dropping a 455 into my 67 Cutlass.
Not taking the engine apart, but going to detail and change out
oil pan, exhaust manifold (stock repops from thornton) ,water pump, thermostat and valve cover gaskets.
Any recommendations on gasket companys ?

For what you are doing, it's hard to beat Fel-Pro. You might as well do an intake gasket and a new timing chain and gears. Timing cover gasket and seal also.

I have had good luck with fel-pro for years. I like the thick rubber ones for the valve covers.

I would suggest cometic or detroit for head gaskets and super sealing purposes like high compression or super charging plus nitrous.

If you pull the heads consider milling them at least the differance in head gasket thickness. The factroy steel shim gasket measure .017 inch, the Fel-Pro are .045 (I think).

gaskets

Guys:
Always use Fel Pro, the BEST gaskets money can buy. I have used and sold them for many years w/ no problems at all, their customer service is also second to none. They have a performance line that uses all the latest and greatest ideas and materials on the market.
Thanks Ron

i read on here, the diesel oil pan gasket is the better choice due to it's steel core.

I like the Fel-Pro as well. That's all I use on both my cars.

I like the reusable ones for the valve covers. I'm not as old school as other guys, maybe that's why I don't care for the cork gaskets

I can remember back in the 60's that I wouldn't use anything but Victor gaskets. Fel Pro was around then but did not fit well. I just binged them and they are now an Indian company. My how times change.
