what all would i need...

what all would I need to make this work? I'm hoping that it will drop in and bolt up with minor modification. I'm worried that the 350 in my 71 might be bad so i'm looking for an upgrade if necessary.

Also will pulleys, water pump, alternator, ect from the 350 fit onto a 455? Or will i need to order them?

I believe that's a Buick engine. Buick engines were red and it looks like the distributor is in the front.

The 75 455 will be a smog motor, 8.5:1 etc. Find out if you can turn either one over for a compression test.

Yes. So long as the pulleys, pump, and brackets are all used as a matched set. Note that late 1970s 350s may have brackets that are not BBO compatible, but all 1968-1976 350 brackets will work on a 455.

I thinking I'm going to get the rebuilt one. From what I'm told its out of a 69. I'll keep everyone up to speed as I go. Is there anything more I need to swap out? if I keep the transmission from the 350.

Thanks for this info. I will jot this one down into my personal notes. Thanks again!

This would be a good build thread.

And I'm back to deciding on what to do. My rebuilt and tune of the 350 that was in the car will run me about the same amount as the rebuilt one mentioned before. The post has since expired but its still available.

So now my dilemma is, will everything transfer? Transmission, valve covers, water pump and so on and will it even work? its a 68/69 motor thats going into a 71 transmission.

yes the parts you listed will fit, there maybe a difference in the length
of the water pump. but it will bolt up and work w/ correct pulley set up
as stated in another post.

Mochi, Are or were you Airborne? (just saw your avatar) I was with the 82d. Airborne Div., 1/17th. Air Cav.HHT in the early and mid '70s. Just curious. Sincerely, Jim.
