W30 Intake Runner Thickness

My W30 intake seems to have very narrow lip thickness where it meets the heads. Could be the problem with it leaking all the time. Has anyone ever welded a sheet of aluminum to the runners and then cut the runners back out to make it thicker. I bought the thickest gaskets I could find but wondering if I could weld plates to that to add to the thickness. It is a 9/16/1969 manifold, it says OLDSMOBILE on it, don't know it those were thinner to begin with or if this has just been milled one or more times.

Any suggestions?

I have two 9-16-69 intakes, and I don't see any differences with the other dated intakes. Those flanges do appear to come to a point, almost as if they were milled-down,but I know these have not been.
Is you intake leaking around the water ports,or just everywhere?
