W30 in a g body
#2
The big block conversion has been done many times into G bodies with success. You will sacrifice the AC housing, and if running headers they will wrap the outside of the frame. It will be significant work and even more money if want it to look and function right. If the engine you have is in fact a W30 engine with F heads, aluminum w455 intake, carb, ect...... I would very strongly recommend selling your engine to a restoration candidate and using the pile of cash you would have to find another 455 to build with aluminum heads and to your chosen specs with more power/torque. Love to see the results

Robert Powers had a fast 455 G Body, check his site out, lots of good info.

Ac
I have seen 455's in Gbody's and still managed to keep ac box.....You have to use stock valve covers but it can be done.
Thanks for everyones input.
I was just wondering if you can do ram air throught the bumper....has anyone tried it?? Thanks!

I think there were a couple years that had air slots in the bumper, but seems they're way inboard which would make plumbing very convoluted. Do you have ground clearance enough to use repro 68-9 W30 under-bumper scoops? You'd still have batteries, vapor canisters and all that to work around or relocate.
If this is a gennie W30 engine with correct heads/intake, I would also move it toward someone looking for restoration parts. You could make some $$$ doing that, and have enough to build a serious 455. There's still a good supply of C/E/G/H head cores available that respond to work just as well as the D/F/K. You can even make J's work very well, just more work to get equal results.
