W30 Engine?

Hi all I have recently obtained a 72 Vista Cruiser with a 455 and a four barrel.

The car was delivered new to the US Embassy in Canberra Australia, and has very few options except for the 455 with Ram Air; twin exhaust; disc brakes and a Turbo 400.

I purchased it recently and have almost completed a mechanical and body rest, but would like to know if this car is powered by the W40?

Any Ideas?

You are probably thinking W30, as there was no W40, The W30 option was not available on any of the wagons. Ram air is highly unlikely for your car. Check the 5th character of the vin, if it is a "U" then it is a factory equipped 455.

Another question - does the 455 come with a four barrel only?

All 455's came with a 4 bbl in '72, also the W25 was available for the Vista it was a special order item that wasn't advertised.

Also the 5th character in the VIN will tell us everything engine-wise, except if it was born with W-25 OAI. That would be on the window sticker, build sheet and very few other pieces of literature. Dual exhaust came with the 455 standard if the L75 was ordered. We would love to see some pics of this baby
