valve springs

Ok i said there would be more questions do i really need to take out the inner valve springs to break in the flat tappet cam ? Johnson high lifters , comp cam , comp cam rockers . I would love to go roller but i already have the parts for the flat tappet . Thanks

If it's just a dampner don't remove it. If it actually dual springs then yes remove the inner spring.

its not the springs, its the oil. Read this, its pretty long but alot of good info.

I remove the inner spring and use the old formula CI4+ diesel oil with GM old formula EOS, moly lube on the lifter feet and lobes. The moly tends to plug the oil filter so I change oil and filter after the 20 minute run in at about 2500 rpm.

Yes. And use a break in oil like Driven BR30 or BR40. 20 years ago I would not have said that but now days it seems to really be a crap shoot on flat tappet cams and lifters.
