valve train

been shopping around for valve train components,I have a comp cam 42-220-4,xe250H-10 cam shaft,a set of roller tip rockers comp cam 1442-16 and a set of comp cam push rods 7582-16.Now I'm looking at springs cam sheet says i need 901-16 springs, found springs,no problem ,but could not fine a kit that includes retainers and locks, also need studs and guides for rockers.what I did come up with is all individual parts, all from comp cam.
springs 901-16
retainers 743-16
locks 601-16
studs 4542-8
guides 4842-8
and spring seats spacers to eliminate the valve rotators 4779-8 those are for a BBC,don't know if they will work on a BBO
also looking at pistons, got that narrowed down to kb 132-030 or speed pro ZL2323F30.
This is all for a 455 in a 1973 98,What do you all think, will any of this work?

Comp cams used to have a tech department go to there web site and they should be able to tell you if all will work with each other.

What are your plans for the engine build? You could run that cam with stock valvetrain components.

car will be a Sunday driver,I got the rockers when I got the cam/lifters,I wanted adjustable rockers, need studs and guides to use the rockers and for another $150.00 figured I may as well replace the springs.Guess I could check the springs and reuse the retainers.Just talked myself in it,saved 100 bucks.gone to order studs, guides and locks.

When I bought the roller tip rocker kit, it came with studs and guide plates.

Pistons come with new pins, I'd go with moly rings but make sure it's honed correctly for them.

Be sure you tell them you want .004 to .005 piston to cyl wall clearance with those pistons. The spec sheet for the pistons is way to tight.

thanks, just checked the blue print sheet they recomend .003-.004 for street and .004 -.005 for competion,I'll go for .004 give or take .0005 ,made note on sheet.thanks again.going for .002 on rods and .003 on mains.
cutlessefi recomended moly rings over cast, but I don,t think I'll fine a shop in this neck of the woods with a toruqe plate,so will moly still be the best choice or would cast be more forgiving to possible distortion of holes?

Actually if you don't have a torque plate then the moly rings would be better, they'll seat faster, torque plate or not. At this point it's the correct hone stones that makes as much of a difference as anything.

280 grit and if they're doing it on a Sunnen machine the crosshatch will be right I'm sure.
