Valve cover clearance M/T Cover

I have M\T Valve covers. I have the .250 thick gaskekets from summit. It's seems like the rockers are still super close. What now?

Its not the rockers that usually hit, the polylocks do. You can double the gaskets and gain a bit more clearance.

I had the same issue on my 70 Vista Cruiser. I took my polylocks to the machine shop and turned them down to a length where they no longer interfered with the MT valve covers.

I've seen posted in the past there are shorter poly locks that should clear with a thick gasket. Sorry I don't have any personal expertise or part numbers for the shorter locks though. Maybe somebody else can chime in with a part number or link to the shorter poly locks.

Watch out machining 6-point poly locks

Ben:
I did the same thing with some 6-point poly locks only to have clearance issues with the 6-point end down inside the rocker arm. I had to buy a set of 12-point poly locks and machine them down to clear the valve covers. The 12-point end fit inside the rocker arm with out interference.

I used a 3/8 a machined spacer from Ramairrestoration.com. It was enough to clear everything and barely noticeable (I cleaned the gasket material after photos, so even less noticeable now.)

That is one beautiful engine! I like your valve covers painted Olds gold in between the fins. Nice touch!
