update on the 455 build
Those that have read my previous threads about my 455 burning oil in the #1 cylinder know that i finally pulled the motor...I first pulled the heads and intake and got them redone,,,The machine shop said the valve guides were pretty wore out...I was just getting ready to put it bak together when i decided i was not going to take the hance of a ring being bad so i decided to pull the motor,,Well over the last couple days down at the machine shop,,,They tore the engine apart and to my surprise everything bsically measured near perfect..The cylinder walls,,piston skirts,,There was no apparent broken rings or metal in the oil pan..I gave tehm the go ahead on rebuilding it..They are going to put new lifters,,bearings,,,timing chain,,oil pump, freeze plugs,,,rings,,hone the cylinders,,,The only thing that was real wore out was the timing chaing,,There was alot of slack and the nylon gear was pretty wore out..I am also letting them rebuild the carb..Hopefully it will be back in in a couple weeks,,,I also am switching it to HEI..I have the the set-up already..My only question for you guys is hooking up all the damn vaumm lines,,Does anyone have a pic or something i can look at..I am sure it wont be to hard but i just want everything to run right and also have the cruise control working...

The basic 3 angle valve job was 65 a head,,But then we learned the valve guides were wore out so it came in around 250.00 for the heads,,and that included refinihing the intake..
Did he check the head surface, too?
Most shops charge much more nowadays, you got out of there cheep.
