toro oil pan question

Hello I plan on putting a Toro oil pan in my 70 442 455 is there any modifications I need to make it fit?

I did this same thing many, many years ago on my '70 442, and I think the only mod was to use the Toro oil pump and pickup, as the pan is deeper by one quart. I don't recall what I did for the bump in the pan that holds oil in the front half, as the Toro pan has clearance for steering linkage not on the 442...sorry?

You just need to also install the oil baffle in side the pan. As far as the front bump, it only holds about 1/4 of a quart. In the old days, nobody worried about that little amount of old oil left when changing the oil.

The Toro pan fits the A-body with no modifications.

You can flatten that bump out with a little heat and patience

I flattened it with a rosebud tip in an oxyacetylene torch, large diameter pipe with hammer to get a fairly smooth shape. As above, since it doesn't have a sump baffle, you should use the factory baffle that bolts to the block with main cap bolts that have studs on the heads.

I have a Toro pan if you are interested but I don't have the baffles. Send me a pm if you have any interest.

Your exhaust crossover pipe won't work if your using stock crossover.

We took our Toro pan and cut the hump out and put sheet metal in so that the 1/2 trapped oil would make its way back to the plug. Worked great.
