Suggestions: Valves for ProComp Heads

Hello everyone.

I ordered a set of bare ProComps and need some valves. What do you run, or suggest?

Thanks

Depends on what your building them for. Feel free to call me.

You to realize that its not just put valves and springs on and away you go. Your going to have to cut the valve seats and probably at a minimum clean up the decks.

Thanks. Aren't you the one with the really thin head gaskets? .016 if I remember.

I will be using it for hotrodding. So 95% street and 5% track

I won't mind doing the decks because I goofed and got Icon887's and I'd like to get 10:1. And 450 horsepower.

And I was planning to get a 3 angle valve job. The machinist told me I need to get all the parts for the heads first.

Yes, I have the .011 shim gaskets. I've got what you want for valves too. Might even throw a few pointers for valve angles and prep.

glad you put that up smitty I was thinking that a valve job should be done to the heads to match the valves and check the seats. Or is just a good Lapping all they need ?

Like Smitty said a good multi angle valve job will do.
Check out "70cutty's" build that I did. Out of the box Procomps made 493/570. Very respectable.

Hi Mark I was going to message you soon. I need some valve springs.

Checked that build out and am impressed. This was my face when I saw those numbers:

I thought it did well too! Actually better than I thought it might, especially on the torque.

The seats need to be fully cut. As is they are just seats that gave been out in the casting. No working finish of any kind other than the 45° is about 45°.
