I picked up Comp Cams 17043 roller rockers, and of course the poly locks hit the baffle. Cutlassefi has posted numerous times that the shorter poly lock will clear stock size valve covers, but which ones are they? The locks that came with the rockers are 1 1/8 inch tall. Summit lists a 4601 poly lock, supposedly 1 inch tall, and these are the shortest I can find.

Are they actually one inch, and not 1 1/8 inch? Or is there a completely different poly lock that is even shorter that I haven't found yet, that will work with the 17043 rockers?

You can buy bare steal valve covers that look like o.e. covers that are 3/8 taller. I bought the chrome version for 35 bucks I wanna say. Some guys have also said they stacked 2 valve cover gakets up. They also sell valve cover spacers .

 

Problem is the PS bracket. Raise the covers very much at all, I'll have to jigger the bracket somehow. If they exist, I'd rather just find short enough locks to fit.

 

Yes they will be 1". That along with double gaskets should get you where you need to be without bracket interference.

 

Thanks. When I couldn't find a lock 1 1/8" tall from Comp, I had to wonder if the 4601 wasn't the same lock that shipped with the rockers, and they just listed it as 1" instead of 1 1/8".
