runs bad when hot??

runs bad when hot??

I have a 1962 olds 98 that starts fine and within about 15 minuets runs like crap... when it gets hot it seems to struggle...but idles fine...???

I'd go for the condenser as the #1 suspect.

Works fine when cold, gets bad when it gets hot, reduces spark voltage, so idle is fine, but you don't have enough zap under load.

Could be other things too, but I'd change the condenser (and maybe points while you're in there), reset the dwell and timing, and see if it still does it.

ok i know what the points are and where theyre at but where is the condenser and what is it... sorry but im use to efi and ignitions with coils..

also when i start it it fine but if i drive it even when the motor is relitivly cool, if i floor it it only revs so high, like mabey 3500rpm....

also the car does not rev past about 3500 when im driving it, really i can only apply the throttle so much before it wants to die but when its sitting still it revs ok....
