Running an engine vacuum pump

Has anyone ever tried running a vacuum pump, and did it do anything to the engine performance???

huh?

Diesels have a vacuum pump where the distributor would be on a gasoline engine.

Why? If you need it for power brakes, I believe there are electric ones available.

You taking about for evac system? It will make power but the engine has to built around it. Its more for big HP race engines

Yes for CC evacuation, Hopefully will add some power. The eng. was built for evac, (Low tension rings). What I'm wondering is if someone builds a kit with the mandrel and brackets I'll need to fit it to the engine.

This is another one of those race engine mods that must be used as part of a total engine package. Simply bolting a vacuum pump/pan evac system onto an otherwise stock engine will not only NOT produce a measurable performance increase, it will likely DECREASE performance by the HP it takes to run the evac system.
