ive been doing a bunch of reading on the subject of clearances for a street strip motor..but nobody says anything about rod side clearance? i know the guy who builds my chevy oval track motors makes sure there is alot o side clearance in the rods...what say the olds engine gurus??

Although I don't have a solid reasoning behind it, I like to open them up.

 

you like to open them up to more than 015-018?

 

I like about .012-.015"

 

I set mine at .018-.020.

 

I run .020 on mine. I beat my engine pretty hard.
