Replacing pistons in a 455

Replacing pistons in a 455

Can anybody tell me what i am going to bo looking at cost wise to have a machine shop take my old pistons off the rods and have my new ones pressed on. Just an avg. cost is fine just so i know.

Why do want to change pistons ? You said that it had .040 over already.

But they r low comp pistons in it now. Deep dish now

Sorry, but gonna be a little more involved than this. Since your new assembly is gonna be different weights than before, gonna need rebalancing, meaning the crankshaft has gotta come out. Also most piston/rod small end pins usually aren't pressed in, rather heated to expand, then slid in. Don't think the last part is gonna affect cost much. Just mostly the way it's done.

You are going to need a:
complete gasket set,
new rings,
rehone the cyl's,
hot tank wash block,
rod and main bearings,
rear main rubber seal,
MAW's
align hone mains,
Deck the block,

maybe more

Do have one thing to add, if going from a rope to neoprene rear seal. Most rear crankshaft seal mating surfaces have gashes in them to help lubricate the rope. You don't want these with a neoprene seal, and need be mached off, unless you want even a bigger leak than the rope.
