I got a 455 Olds mileage unknown with Edelbrock manifold, Stock bore pistons, shim head gaskets. Took the old girl on the high way and raced a motorcycle. Oil pressure is now 7 psi idle 25psi at 2,0000 rpm.
Should I keep running it, it.s making no odd noises? I live in the Brampton area.

Yeah I was thinking the same things....oil pressure is noticeably lower but no musician in the iron works. Should I keep going?

if its just a driver and occasional beat on car you might as well drive it and go easy untill it gets exhausted...if its a nice car and you value the engine and dont want to spend a lot of money to replace parts in the future now might be a good time to rebuild

Drain your oil & remove your filter. Cut that filter open & have a look. If the filter is free of bearing material then refill the engine with a high viscosity oil & install a quality filter like a WIX. I'd run at least 15W40 if not 20W50 and be sure to use a high zinc oil meant for older engines. If it was mine I would use a quart of Lucas oil stabilizer in place of one of the quarts of oil.


Fire it up & see if you gain back some oil pressure @ idle. Let it warm up & drive it easy until up to operational temp. See what your cruise oil pressure is now. If it is better than before just drive it until it gets worse or your budget allows you to pull it out & go thru it properly. Lay off the road racing until it is rebuilt.

Thanks for your ideas......oil filter one is something I overlooked. What do you usually use to open the filter ? a big pipe cutter?

The filters are pretty thin I've cut them open w a razor knife, just be carefull not to add metal shavings to it while cutting it open

Thanks for the advice I took it out today and runs, sounds fine except oil pressure is noticeably lower especially at idle

I don't wish to over state the obvious, but have you checked the oil level? Could have burned/blown a lot of oil out during the race. Check for leaks you could have blown a front or the rear main seal.
