Radiator for '66 toronado
Radiator for '66 toronado
Anyone know where to get a replacement radiator for a '66 Toronado? looking for a new OEM style or an aluminum aftermarket that will fit without too many alterations. Anyone who can steer me in the right direction I'd appreciate,,,thanks
Coincidentally the new TOA Front Wheel Driver has an article on sourcing the discontinued 71-3 Toronado radiators. Seems the author found a radiator for 1990-2000 GM full-size trucks and SUVs are pretty much a drop-in for those years.
Measure the critical dimensions of your 66's radiator and a good parts man or radiator shop (wtf is that?) may be able to hook you up.
Here's an observation on US Radiator. Ordered one for one of my 64 Starfires thru USA Parts Supply when they were still in business. It was drop-shipped from USR.
I don't know what that radiator was for, but it sure as hell wasn't for a 1964 Starfire. Width was spot on, as were the trans cooler connections and top tank. But the core was 3" shorter top to bottom than the factory radiator. Sent it back and the second was identical to the first. Ended up finding an old school radiator man who measured the original, ordered a new core and put it all back together for about half what I paid for the USR.
Might also add this was also after another radiator shop had told me no cores were available, which was why I'd gone the USR route to start with.

Glenn, I can't speak to the now-defunct USA Parts, but I got a three-row HD cooling radiator for my 62 F85 directly from US Radiator. It was a drop-in replacement for the original two row. No issues. It's been in the car for two years now.
