quick and dirty on camshaft bearing tool kit

I picked up this tool kit to remove the cam bearings on my big block, unfortunately have no instructions and would like to follow some sort of guidance before damaging the block (bad idea)...

I picked one of the bearings which have the elastic rubber band around and size 3 seems to want to go in but it's not.. I guess I have to attach it to the rod and hammer it in?

size 2 easily goes in and out.

Im sure few of you guys use this often and familiar as if it's a can opener

thanks

I have that tool, its at the shop or i would take some picts of instructions. You find the size that goes into the cam bearing and turn the handle to expand it so the rubber grips the inside of bearing and the shoulder touches the bearing rim. It needs to be the right size so it will go thru the block. Note each bearing is a different diameter. The end one should be done from either end so the tool is longest and funnel keeps it straight. Getting them out is no sweat but the new ones take a little gentleness so they arent damaged.

would you happen to know if a stock bearing size is 1.925 to 2.150 for a big block?

...a little tip, if you didn't know;

before installing the bearings, take a good sharp pocket knife and very carefully cut the sharp edge (chamfer) around the bearing (just enough to take the edge off), the bearing is made of babbit medal and is very soft...this prevents the cam from getting caught up in the bearings during installation.
