To meet your specs will be a tough. 500hp pn pump gas? It'll take more expertise than your average engine guy.

May I suggest you contact

or any number of reputable Oldsmobile engine builders. Just stay the heck away from Mondellos.

If your serious about making an Oldsmobile go fast with an Oldsmbile engine it can be done. You might have to tweak on your requirements though. If you want to learn about Oldsmobile combinations go to realoldspower.com and view the Engine Builds\Combos and Hardcore Race\Engine Tech. Just don't say you want to put a Chevy in your Olds on that site.... you won't get any help or information from them if you speak "blasphemy" like that John

IMHO-You don't really need a forged crank. There's plenty of drag cars running steel cranks.

Also IMHO-Aluminum heads? $1800 for unported bare heads which don't flow any better than cast heads out of the box. You spend a lot of bucks to save 50 lbs.

True-There's a guy on ROP (I forget his name...maybe RedDropTop?) runs a street 'charger on his Cutlass.

True-Ch#vy drivers makes a big deal out of 4 bolt mains, but their blocks have low nickel content unlike Olds....so 4 bolts in mush is better than two bolts in mush.

More true-I say it a lot, but my best bud runs a 70 442 W-30 with unported iron heads and a QJet deep into the 11s. He is also a builder/blueprinter specializing in Olds.

Really true-If you put a location in your profile, maybe we could suggest someone close to you.

so edelbrock heads dont flow any better than c or #7 heads? or were u talking aftermarket steel heads? im not worried bout 4 bolt main. all my engines i built have been 2 bolt.im thinking of changing up a little bit and build a 350 olds for a little more rpm. is it possible to squeeze 450 - 500 hp out of a 8.5:1 sbo? thanks for help. i dont like the rop board. lot of jerks on that board.

You can port 7 and 7a heads to flow as good if not better than 5 or 6 heads. A 350 is a fun little motor...I run one now.

As to 450-500hp, check out the links and talk to those pros.

ok ive changed my plans. im going to go all motor. i going to build this car into a bracket car. im gutting the car as much as possible to get the weight down as much as possible. what do you all think of a 455 with 12-14:1 compression(on alky)with mildly ported or stock heads, a hyd cam, 500-550 lift approx, aluminum intake. will stock bottom end hold up to 5500 rpm ok?
