quadrajet 7042251

Ok we are moving along on my 455 build, YEARS ago I purchased a holley remanufactured quadrajet, ( before the internet really took off I might add LOL) the number stamped on it is 7042251 which from researching is for a cutlass 455 1972 I found one reference that this is a 795 cfm carb. and when I purchased it I know I specified a carb for a 70 442 455 with manual transmission, I know it is not "numbers" correct but will this carb be good for my "mild" build?

I just picked up a performer manifold that had the heat cross over repaired ( welded) it looks like a very professional job, I am getting a cam from Mark ( cutlassfi) that is similar to the thumpr but a little more lift duration etc,
rough specs are 228/240 @.050, .504 lift on a 108

harlan sharps 1.6, c-heads large valves will have the air bumps smoothed down mild port, I have to wait till the valves are done to give mark the valve height, for the springs, running icon forged pistons and if the heads come in at 80 cc it will be 9.3 and if 77 at 9.5, pertronix upgrade on a stock distributor, 3.08 gears and an m-20 wide ratio ( so that is like a 2.56 first gear I think)

is 795 good enough?

too much?

thanks in advance

You should have Phil of Custom Carbs in Middlesex NJ go through your carb. I gave him the estimated HP and the particulars on my 496 and he returned me a carb that we didn't have to touch on the dyno.

Thanks Stan...

Thanks stan, I will see how she runs first as it was a holley rebuild and yet has not had any fuel in it, and Larry said the carb is incluced into the build.

I did manage to score a nice performer on the cheap, and Larry is going to make some custom cross over blocks,

just wanted to know if the 795 was good enough size wise..
