pushrods
pushrods
Hi all, im building a 67 E block 400. The heads were milled approx .007, the block was decked also approx. .007. My new cam is 504 lift if im remembering correctly. I have Comp adjustable roller tip rockers.
Question: Can i use stock length 455 pushrods as no one seems to sell the 400 pushrods. I do have my old pushrods which are in good shape, i was just thinking a better quality pushrod might be better.
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks
Steve

Thanks Mark, infact the ones that cam with the kit were i think .001 longer than the stock 455 pushrod. Maybe it was .010 longer i dont remember now, and they were welded ball tips. I read on another post somewhere in here not to use welded ball p-rods. I think the stock 400 pushrods are 9.42? or somewhere in that range. I have always used stock length in SBC motors with high lift cams, but i realize this is not a SBC. However with adjustable rockers i guess there is some play, but again as you said ill measure first
Thanks again

Here is an article worth reading. It is however more important to achieve the shortest travel of the roller tip across the valve stem than having it centered.
