Pulley and bracket trouble

Pulley and bracket trouble
So I've been beating my head on cast iron trying to figure out this pulley/bracket quagmire under the hood. I have the newer alternator brackets on a 455, but one has been badly butchered. I can get my hands on one from a 350, but as I understand, it will need a spacer between it and the PS bracket due to the higher deck height? Currently there is a 3/8 inch gap between the alt adjustment bracket and the alt. This could be due to the butchered hole that bolts to the exhaust manifold.
I placed a spacer between the block/motor mount flange and the lower PS bracket (about 7/16 inch total) that was non-existent before. I also placed a fat washer between PS tensioner bracket and pump.
Pulleys/belts are aligned 90% better than they were when I drove the car off the trailer, but the 3/8" gap indicates that something is amiss.
I hope to have the brackets and pulleys from a donor 350 this weekend. I'm hoping to just swap everything from the 350 if the bracket doesn't help. The front of my motor may have been Frankensteined.
This forum has been a tremendous help in getting this car roadworthy. I've had much trouble posting (and computer issues) but I'm on here a lot. Thank you everyone!!

You should read this thread, and this thread (though it may be confusing).
Basically, all of the brackets used by Olds up to 1976, when the 455 was discontinued, should either fit both blocks in the same holes, or should have two sets of holes in one place so that you can bolt them to either.
