Please, need some help to identify my engine.

Hello to all of you from Oldenburg in Germany!

Today I made some pictures of my engine because I want to know what I get. My ride is an 69 Delta 88 Holiday Coupe. The papers said is an 455 engine inside with 365 Hp. I think this is not the truth because I think the Carb is an 2BBL?
I make some Pictures of castingnumbers I found allover the engine. Unfortunally the seller showered the engine allover with orange paint, so I have to say a big sorry for the worth pictures!!! I hope it will run to you, If not I try to make some better ones!
Engine runs fantastic, so It is no problem for me if it is the low compression 455!

Yes, it is a 455 (F block) and the C heads would have been correct for a 1969 car. There is a vin stamped into the side of the block, located on the drives side below the large letter C in the head. If you want to check and see if the motor is original to the car compare that number to the one in your dash, drivers side.

The 2bbl version of the 455 in your car had 9.00:1 compression and was factory rated at 310 HP. Here is the page from the 1969 Salesman's Specs book that shows the ratings of all available engines that year.

Thank you very, very much!!!
I'll look tomorrow if this engine is original with this car.
Is it right that the 2bbl has more torque than the 4bbl?

No... 490 is still less than 500 or 510.

To me it looks exactly like an undisturbed original 455 from 1969. They were red, so maybe that paint is correct or close to it.

I think I see a RUBBER VACUUM TEE on the intake there, they usually rot away.

18436572 is the engine firing order, like many other engines... not much help until you need to time it or tune it. Not a parts ID number.

The "C" on the heads and their 394548 casting ID look right.
Intake should have a "J" in the depression aft of the water crossover, passenger [Right Hand] side. Exhaust should have a prominent letter cast into them- probably "R" on LH side and "T" on RH side. If you have a dual exhaust car [not likely with a 2-bbl] then the LH manifold would be an "S" casting:

Air conditioning, and all the belts and pulleys still in place.... cool. Literally.

Hey thank you!
You are right that 490 is less than 500 or 510...but the 2bbl should reach his end of torque much more earlier, so I think that startingpower is a little bit better? But I'm a total newbie in that!!
For me this car is absolutly enough...few days ago I've a little dragrace with an very new Audi TT at our City and my car win this without a chance for the Audi
Thank you for all the information to me! Tomorrow I'll take a look for all of them!
