O NOT WHARE TO GO WITH THIS PART ? putting A NEW FRONT SEAL ON MY 1962 88 294 please help.

It looks like it started life as a standard flat washer and got put where it didn't fit and had a nut tighten down on it causing it to deform like that. Yeah, where did it come from?

I have no idea but it does kinda look like an oil slinger.

I think behind pully or behind casing .that is whare my problem is. It my be a slinger ? and whare to put it.

I think behind crank pully. but I think it should not go there. Is it a slinger? and ware to put the slinger ?

I was going to also say an oil slinger but something didnt look right about it. If thats what it is then it does go on the front of the crank to keep most of the oil from getting to the seal.

I read on internet that it goes behind timing cover to sling oil on timing chain & fuel pump arm.

Edit: I lost track of the fact that we were talking about a 394. Yes that looks like an oil slinger that has seen better days. It should be flat. What does the inside of the front cover look like?

Whatever it is, it looks like it was tortured into coming off whatever it was on. Bit potato chippy...
