Question Olds 455 engines-produced from when to when?

When did Oldsmobile stop manufacturing and installing 455s into their vehicles?

Thanks

76 was the last year for the 455 and i think 68 was the first year but i am not for sure on that part.

The 455 was produced from the 1968 model year to the 1976 model year. Since 1968 production started in late Aug/early Sept 1967, those would have been the first. 1976 production ended in Aug 1976.

Thanks gentlemen. I have a guy telling me he has a Olds 455 from a 1987/1988 Olds. I did not think that was correct but wasn't sure if the 1987 Cutlass 442 came in a 455 model.

I am having him send me the casting number so I know for sure.

Thanks

Technically the 455 WAS avail from '68 thru about 1980/81 although only officially used till '76 model year

Unused stock was sold as Marine/irrigation engines as well as replacements(warranty) And the later engines didn't have the boss for the clutch Z-bar (castings had a Fa at the end not the USUAL F)

Just to clarify, the O.P. asked when Olds "stopped manufacturing" the 455...

And the 1976 model year was the last time they were factory installed in production vehicles.

Not to ressurect a dead thread or anything but are you sure he didnt mean the model of the car was an 88 rather than the year? They did put 455s in Delta 88s for a while didnt they? Just a thought at least...
