Olds 394 question

What all needs to be done to fit a small block Chevy in a 394 car? I was told I had to cut the firewall, is this true?

We dont talk about such things here....if you did do the swap you would end up with a turd....Of course this is just my opinion.

I know Chevy isn't something you talk about here, but I happen to have a rebuilt and ready 350 sitting in the garage and was wanting to drive the hearse for awhile until the 394 gets rebuilt. Not going to keep the 350 in there, but a friend who owes me a favor is rebuilding the 394 whenever he gets alittle extra time (who knows when that will be).

Thats good to hear.....as for your original question I can only imagine that it would not be an easy swap. The 350 wont bolt to the Olds trans so another trans will be needed as well....then there will be issues with mounts, radiator hoses, driveshafts, shift linkages, wireing, exhaust, and a host of other things that wont come to mind until actually trying the swap....my opinion is it would not be worth it for a temporary situation.

Agreed, the swap would be a pain and defenitely not worth it IMO. I would rather let it set in the garage, and as stated above you could improve it in some other way while it was down. Good luck!
