Oil dipstick tube...

I've noticed my oil pressure being really low so i decided to check the oil level.

When I tried to pull the dipstick out the tube that it sits in slid out about three inches...It moves freely unless I push it back down into the block.
I am worried I am not getting an accurate reading, and I was wondering what I should do to fix the dipstick tube (what kind of seal or sealant I should buy, how I should do it). thanks for your time

The dipstick tube has a raised bump on it where it goes into the block. It is pressed in at the factory. Once it comes out it will most likely never seal correctly so the only way to seal it is to put it in all the way and then use Ultra Black around it where it enters the block. This will keep oil from coming out, but will not keep it in the block if you pull on it. You will have to use two hands to remove the dipstick, one holds the tube, the other pulling out the dipstick.

You can apply the Ultra Black from the bottom of the car, it is tight but can be done. If you decide to replace the dipstick tube you can order one from GM, part number 401357

Thank you for the reply. I will most likely go with Ultra black for now.
