Oil/Choke light keeps coming on in my 86 Olds supreme 350 rocket

Light keeps coming on but not until it's been driven awhile ...Could it be a false reading from my censor ??? When I accelerate it goes off until I stop . Someone also told me I need my carborator adjusted . When I bought it though the guy said it needed a new carborator Could this be the problem ??? any suggestions are appreciated . Thanks , Chris

Take out the sending unit, and screw an oil pressure gauge into the hole.
Let us know what it reads. If 10psi or below, the motor is almost junk.

What weight oil are you running, is it full, what rpm is it idling at.

X2 on installing an oil pressure gauge to see what your oil pressure really is.

Was this originally a 307 car or a V6 car? The wiring is different and the V6 cars used an electric choke. If you don't have the choke hooked up properly on a V6 car it's possible that's what's causing the light.

On the other hand, if it IS an oil pressure problem (worn 350 with low oil pressure once the oil warms up and thins out) then you had better put a gauge on there and see what's really going on before hurting something.
