anyone know of a good machine shop in the north east that can turn a crank and bore the end for the pilot bearing? or would it be cheaper or easier to find one. im located near albany ny so the closer the better.

Try BTR. He's the closest to you that knows Olds and can do it.

 

Mike Pettit at Pettit Racing Engines in New Milford ,CT. It is the former Atlantic Motorsports shop.

 

BTR or OPP are the true Olds guys nearest to you. They have both done it many times.

E & G Machine in Wallingford, CT does some Olds work for "stickw31" but isn't much if any closer to you than Bill or Andy. You can always ship the crank if you are absolutely sure of your block & rods' integrity & measurements but I would personally supply it all to whoever does the work.

 

Mike knows Olds extremely well.

Atlantic built some very fast Oldsmobile motors back in the day.
