Newbie looking for advise/opinion

First...Hi to all.
I have been digging throught different parts of this site and have found good and useful info.
I am gathering parts to build/rebuild a 455 for my 71 Cutlass.
Right now I have :
72 Toro block .030 KB277KTM-030 pistons
KA heads w/minor port matching
Eddy Torqer intake
Headers
Trans is 700r4 w/ stage 2 eqivelant and 2500 stall
Rear-end is 3.73 limited slip
Tires are 295/50r15
I think thats covers everthing accept "CAM"
Which leads me to this post. I wish to ask the powers of the OLDS gods for recommendations.
Thanks in advance.
John

Oh btw Want this to have some drivability. It will be mostly street driven with 1 or 2 weekends a month at the track.
Thanks again.

I'd do an Erson TQ 50, 228/235 @.050, with about.510 lift. You didn't spec your valvetrain so I'm guessing it's stock. This cam would be easy on the whole valvetrain, work with that stall and give a broad power range.
If you want a roller I can do that too.

Thanks

Yes you guessed right... STOCK.
I knew I didn't get everything in that post.
So now what kind of idle would I be looking at with those specs. And any ideas what kind of hp and torque I could be hoping for.

I'm a huge fan of the Engle 20-22....496"/.512" lift, 226/230 duration @ 0.050" on a 110 lobe separation. I know Mark is an Erson dealer but I've had great experience with that Engle. You could expect a moderately loping idle and sub 12 second passes with your set up.

Sorry Mark, I've gotta make you work a little lol!

You'll hear it for sure. Should work fine with a 2500 stall. I'd say 400+ on the hp but certainly 500 or better on the torque.

But imho, I think the new RPM air-gap would be a better intake for you than the Torker, what carb is going on it?

No problem guys!
A predator! Holy crap! That needs to be in the smithsonian!
Actually I did a 604 ford a hundred years ago with one on it, it ran great.
Others will chime in on what they think you should do on your choice of carbs, I'm not an edelbrock or qjet fan but there are guys on here that have done well with both.

Actually they're a little lighter than those L2323 slugs.

I thought the same about the old shoe box carb but I thought I would throw it in any way. See what kind of reactions I would get.

Thanks guys for your inputs. They are close specs I would guess the prices will be fairly close too.
