New oil pump

Make sure you weld or braze the pick-up tube to the pump. The high volume Melling pumps have a pick-up tube that bolts on, not sure if that would be right for your engine though.
If the engine is in the car you may need to pull the bolts out of the motor mounts and raise the front of the engine to get the pan off. I made a lifting jig out of some angle iron, bolted it together like a "U" then bolted it to the front of the engine and used a floor jack to lift it. A crude copy of the jig they use in the FSM to do it but it worked, you can use an engine hoist too. Jam some 2x4's between the engine and frame for safety once it's lifted.

It's basically stock Im thinking of pulling the motor to clean it,swap heads ( worn guides) and timing chain/cam. It's in the car but the radiator, water pump, cyl heads are all off. At this point what's left to remove the engine? 6 bell housing bolts,3 torque converter bolts and 2 engine mount bolts?
Thanks guys....

I suggest the Melling "M22F pump. Use the stock pick up. I put some heat to the pump pick up hole and freeze the pick up tube. Don't put to much heat, for you may warp the pump body. Just enough heat and insert the tube fast and you will be set.
I also take the cotter pin out for the pressure valve and re-drill the hole .250 over, clean it all, push the spring and retainer down and re-insert the pin in the new hole. helps with the pressure.
