Need some advice with this 455 please
Also whe I first started driving the rig I noticed the Hg vacuum gauge would go from 15 at idle to zero when I have it gas. Now it goes from about 14 and goes up to 17 when I give it gas. It's still running rough.
I'm familiar with edelbrock carbs. My car has one. I just figured that if the reason for your engine not running right is because of the carb for whatever reason, swapping to one that is known to be in working order could be worth the effort. If your engine still runs poorly your problem is elsewhere.
DEFINATELY sounds like a timing issue. You were driving it then bam, this all starts. That tells me the carb isn't really the issue here.
You replaced points, hopefully cap and rotor too.
Make 100% certain that your dwell and timing are set correctly. That's #1.
You got fuel, spark and compression. Your timing isn't right. How did you check your dwell/set your points? If you don't have a dwell meter then you're just guessing. Set your dwell then set your timing.
When I did mine, I set mine according to my FSM but still had to play with the timing a little bit. Did you re-tighten the bolt holding the dist?
