455 Oil pump shim and pick up screens

I have a melling m22f oil pump, a stock rebuild 455 w original oil pan and a few questions

1. can i use the stock original oil screen and pick up w this pump ? or see #2

2. melling sells two press in pick ups 22fs and 22fs1 i cant see or tell any difference between the two is there a difference and what is it ?

3. what is the best way to press in the pick up screen ? just push it in by hand ? any loc tite or anything on it ?

4. and lastly should i shim this oil pump some old threads showed many people shim the pump one measurement i saw was .150 which is about 3.81mm is that good ?

any advice on these questions would be appreciated.

Looks like the fs1 is for a Toro.
Shim it about .250 only if you opened up your bearing clearances. Otherwise imo leave it alone.

This is not to be construed as contradicting Mark, but I shimmed mine with a ¼" nut (or was it 10mm?) and my relief pressure went to 60psi, but my engine DOES have loose clearances.

Please note that increasing the oil pressure and/or volume requires the engine to do extra work, so doing so will slightly decrease engine output and fuel mileage.

Put the screen in a vise then tap the oil pump onto it with a mallet. Mark the location then spot weld it to ensure it won't come out.
