Installing new oil pump
It has been a long winter and I am finally reassembling my 67 400 from my 442 after getting it back from the machine shop. It has been sitting on my stand for 4 months now just waiting for reassembly. This may sound stupid, but is there a gasket between the oil pump and block? I just want too make sure. I do not plan on pulling this out again....

If you are using ARP studs, the base of the pump will not sit flush to the block.
You will need to grind some material off.
If it is a stock pump, be sure to braze the pick up to the body.
If it is an aftermarket pump, use Loctite on the bolts, and inspect the welding around the pick up carefully.
A Milodon pick up with a faulty weld cost me a $6,000 motor.
