Before I drop $500-$600 on piston, I want to be as certain as possible from those with experience.

I was considering the ICON866-030 piston for my Olds 455 rebuild. I have the Eagle crank (4.250 stroke) and Eagle rods ordered. Speaking to my builder, he wasn't impressed with the 'short skirt' on the ICONs when he recently did a Pontiac 455. He recommended the DSS Racing GXS 6003X (w/ 2 value reliefs like the ICON) at 18cc dish because of the longer skirt.

My son works at Engine Pro and can get ICON piston as a discount but not the DSS pistons.

Any thoughts, I just want to spend my money wisely?

I've used over a half dozen sets of the Icon pistons in just the last couple of years, 0 issues. Just made 536hp on an EFI'd 455 using a Pontiac Icon piston.
