http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/397433...entertainment/ Loved this show and inspired many to love old cars and hotrods.
Sid Caesar, Mickey Rooney, Jonathan Winters, Peter Falk & Jerry Lewis are still around but they are getting on in years.
They've left us with some fond memories.
You'll never see a movie like that again. I don't know what they paid those big names stars of the time, but today such a movie today would be $500M just for salaries of the stars of that stature. On top of that add the cost of making the movie.
Seems I remember Mr. C first drove a Studebaker and the moved up to a DeSota when the hardware store started to thrive. Of course we never saw the cars. They were just mentioned in the script. What a great show. RIP Mr. C.
Too bad.
They showed the DeSoto a few times, most of the outside shots were in the early episodes. One later outside episode was when Fonzie jumped the shark on his bike. The series was going downhill fast by then and they should of ended it way before that, thus the term "Jumped the Shark" for a TV series that has lived past it's prime.
Mr. C. must have been a good guy to put up with the open headers on Ralph Malph's Model A roadster pick up when he stopped by.
They never did explain why Richie Cunningham's big brother disappeared forever, kind of like the dog on Brady Bunch.

When I was a kid I was devastated when I found out that Curly from the Three Stooges was no longer with us...had been for about ten years.
They do go in 3s, I hope my heroes Lassie, Rin-Tin-Tin, and Fury the Horse are feeling okay.

Time flies Pat. I watched "It's a Mad,Mad,Mad, Mad World on the weekend and it doesn't seem that long ago that I saw it at the movies. What a cast! They're nearly all dead now. Spencer Tracey, Milton Berle, Buddy Hackett, Ethel Merman, Phil Silvers, Terry Thomas, Edie Adams, Don Knotts, Jimmy Durante, 3 stooges etc etc.

IIrc, the older son went into the military in the 1st episode. They gave him a going away party, where Richie drank little shots of beer. How many shots? 72!
After doing a quick search, the older bro. "Chuck" was in a total of 9 episodes.

Tonight we're going to the Australian premier of "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines".
