I know I am putting this in the right forum but I need some help I didn't getting any help in the interior section, I need help.
I need some directions on how to install my automatic console. I see these two plastic brackets but where do they go. Do they mount in the front and on the back brackets spot I need help.

console
I know this is the wrong section for this but again I need help.
I still need help installing my automatic console in my 71 cutlass. I got the carpet down and console is ready to go in, so what are these two plastic bracket for and where do they go. I see these brackets welded to the floor. But I am clueless on how to install this damn thing. Another nice member sent me a diagram but I cant make it out. Help

It would help us if you could post pictures of the parts your unsure of. Since you said two plastic brackets I'm wondering if this is the two pieces that fit side by side and form the bottom of the storage compartment.
There should be screws going through the bottom of the storage compartment into the flat metal bracket welded to your floorboard. Then up front there should be a metal bracket shaped sort of like a M and there should be one screw go through the sides of the console into each ear of the letter M.
If this is still not clear let us know.

OK, I went to the garage and looked at a console. My memory was off a little. Here's photos to show where to attach it.
On the front, here's one of the holes where a screw attaches to the M shaped bracket. There's another just like it on the left side of the console

then to attach the rear of the console you need to have the storage compartment liner out. Then you can install four screws through these tabs into the flat metal bracket.

After you get the rear attached to the floorboard you install the two storage compartment liner pieces side by side. They had something like felt glued to them and there's screws to the front and back to hold the liner to the console body.
