I like Bullet cams and Dave Smith camshafts. I'd call BTR, Bill would give you a great recommendation on camshaft and application. http://www.btrperformance.com/

Something like an Erson, 238/242-246 on a 110 maybe even a 112 for the p/b and a/c, lift would be .584 with 1.6 rockers but with ported Edelbrocks I'd go with 1.7's for .620 lift. A port matched Torker and an 850 ought to get you there. Bigger intakes (2.125 or 2.140) will help as well. It should make 560+ or so on the torque and 530-540 on the hp imo.

Whatever you do, get something with some lift to take advantage of the heads. Plus you'll need to keep the duration and lobe sep in check to some degree cuz of the p/b a/c.

You want 500 HP? Try the Comp Cams 294-300 hydraulic roller, .576, .600 lift. Durations at .050" are 242, 248 deg. 108 lobe centers would be best, but if you must run vacuum accessories, you may have to widen the lobe centers, and possibly step down in duration a notch. The lobe numbers are 3317, 3318. If you are willing to "try" for 500 but settle for somewhat less, you can lower the duration figures. The lobes are listed in the back of the catalog under extreme energy. The cams in the front are more streetable but make less power.

If the sales staff at the 800 number isn't happy to make what you want, you can "inquire within" and you will find technically astute people at Comp who believe in service, know cams, and will grind anything that makes any sense at all. Even back in the 70s, I picked the lobes and lobe center I wanted and they ground it for me. The price is reasonable too. Many of the lobe series in the back of the catalog are as aggressive as anything you can buy anywhere, and the dynamics of their stuff help drivetrain life. Sure, you can pick something like the MM solid lifter lobes that are extremely aggressive and "on the edge" even with the required .904" and bigger lifters, but if you need a tiny bit "extra" to win, Comp is there for you. They have solid lifter profiles that are close in aggressiveness to hydraulic rollers, and to earlier, smoother design solid rollers. They have roller profiles ranging from smooth and easy to extremely aggressive. They have in-house nitriding to add durability to flat tappet aggressive grinds.

No, I don't have any stock in the company, and I'm not a dealer, just a long time customer.

I am an Erson dealer and I agree Comp is a good cam company. They're also a great marketing company, they'll tell you what you need, just ask them.
However there are other good ones out there as well, Lunati, Howard, Isky etc.
But I deal directly with 2 guys who between them have over 40 years experience. I'd like to think that can make a difference.

And yes Erson has different profiles as well.

Dynoed it on BP 93. You would have an advantage, better heads so you could run less compression and still make more hp. Edelbrocks are good for about 40 or so right out of the box, not including a Torker vs this Performer, another bonus.

As another example, a friend who is on this forum built a 400 for his 66 442 restoration with a Comp 280H magnum muscle flat tappet hydraulic (230 deg. at .050", .490" lift), headers and full exhaust, 9.6:1, stock Tri Carbs. It dyno'ed at 411 HP, 470 ft-lb.

Keep us posted if you would. I'll bet he'll recommend a Comp, maybe 234/240 or so, probably on 110 or 112 cuz of your concerns with p/b and a/c. That would sound about right.

I'd probably do about the same as my post above for you but on a 112 for better driveability, maybe change the exhaust lobe a little as well.

Jmo.
