Hydraulic flat tappet lifter brand identification
I removed these lifters from a 455 built in the 1990s that was never ran.
I am trying to figure out if these are from a reputable brand. They have distinct “dots” engraved which may help to identify
I need lifters for a Comp Cams Magnum 280H. Planning for 105 - 110 installed pressure. For a 9.3:1 455 with a max rpm of 5,000.
Might these cut it. The box it from a different set of lifters.

I took down an engine some ago that was rebuilt and never ran. It sat for years before I got it and contained at least three different designs of lifters in it. Major differences being the amount or lack of holes in the metering disc. A few were just like the ones you have. I can't tell you what brand yours are but a johnson lifter would probably have the name on it. Based on that theory, yours are not Johnsons.

IMO, all flat tappet lifters are a crap shoot at this point, regardless of brand.
Only one note, something I learned the hard way: if you take them apart and clean them, keep all the parts for each lifter separate. The tolerances are so close that they are hand-fit. Mixing and matching pistons with bodies leads to major problems (and buying another set of lifters).
