Hi guys,
my car is 65 442 with a mild-low compr.-455 (comp cams-260/260-447/447Lift) with headers and 2,5"Flowmaster Exhaust Kit with a pair of the "50 Delta Flow".

I discussion this question with Gary Silva from Flowmaster(Senior Sales Representative) and before i write everything down with my terrible English i copy the discussion :

...after he had advised me to change to 40 series Delta-flow or Super 44 and let me know that this will dramatically change interior and exterior tone, too.....

thank you for your quick and helpful reply.

To be honest,the only change i wanted is at the idle because the interior resonance is okay they donīt drone and if you drive and hit the throttle i hear the beautiful Flowmaster tone.

In consideration of that my car is a convertible car and i donīt have a roof as little decibel protection,i think the 40 Delta series is a little to loud at the interior so i have a few question:

i looked at you pic at your site where the Muffler family is illustrated but itīs difficult to read the words,is it possible to send me this pic in a viewable version?

Gary,what do you thinking about the 50 series "HD"-Mufflers?
In your Muffler family pic this HD Muffler is located between the 40 Delta and my 50 Delta.Any experience about the the idle-drive and Interior?

is it a choice to stay by the 50 Delta Mufflers but change the Muffler size and the pipes to 3" to become more from the rumble tone at the idle and will this change dramatically the interior tone,i know is difficult to say because all cars,engines and ears are different.

or maybe "only" change the Muffler size to 3" and the rest of the pipes are as it now 2,5" ?

Hi Denis,
In regards to your English, NO Worries; two "Gear Heads (car
enthusiast)" communicating with each other while being separated by half
a world seems to be working quite well. Besides I only know English
you're the one that is making this conversation a success.
In regards to your questions:
1) The above attachment should allow you to review our Family of
Mufflers chart.
2) Our 50 HD muffler has 4.00" internals and would increase exterior
tone at all speeds along with idle but you would also develop some
interior resonance.
3) Three inch exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds would increase
the exhaust tone but would decrease overall horsepower (how much not
sure) by allowing the exhaust pulses to cool to rapidly causing back
pressure preventing maximum scavenging of the exhaust from the cylinder.
Now by only changing the tail pipes to 3.00" might accomplish your goal
without having the same negative effect as a complete 3.00" system.
4) Changing the 50 Delta-flow to 3.00" inlet and outlet would not have
the effect you're looking to get because of the 2.50" tail pipes.

........so what do you guys think or has anyone experience how the interior resonance,exterior and Idle tone change if i changed the tailpipes from 2,5" to 3" size,will this give me more from the hollow Flowmaster(40Series) tone???
