By the way, the 403 is a small block (yes, it's confusing since the 400 is a big block).

IMO, for a build up the 403 isn't the best choice.

Windowed mains make for a weaker block.

A stock build, it should be fine

 

Neither is a 350 but I did it anyway.

403 powered 78 Olds 98 @ 4000 lbs

Class record holder: 11.21 @ 117 miles per hour

Now that I think about it, Her 403 is pretty close to stock.
