Help needed 394 Timing Chain

I need to replace the timing chain on my 1959 Super 88 394.
I know I need a puller to remove the harmonic balancer but how do you attach the puller. There are usually threaded holes on the pulley to attach the puller but the 394 has no holes like these on the pulley.

Will the timing gears need to be pulled with a puller?

Anyone with first hand knowledge of doing a 394 timing chain, some say you can remove and replace the timing cover without removing the oil pan.
The book says you have to remove the oil pan.

I guess pan or no pan you need to support the engine as the front mount needs to come off the timing cover.

Thanks anyone with any advice.

I dont care what people say, but try using 2 pry bars on opposite ends of the balancer and pry the balancer off slowly...worked great for me on 3 394's..the cam timing gear should come off easily and again, i dont care what people say, use 2 small pry bars on opposite ends of the crank gear..It also worked great for me on 3 394's.. Do you have to remove the entire oil pan pan to change the timing gear... NO...I have seen gasket kits for the 371/394 on Ebay for a cam change - front cover, fuel pump, front oil seal, water pump, front oil pan seal and the 2 oil pan rail seals that were about 3 inches long - NOT THE ENTIRE OIL PAN RAIL GASKETS ..The big pain is supporting the front of the engine as there is only 1 front motor mount
