Help with early 425 identification
Hello again everyone! I located an early 425 4bbl for sale, and have some questions about the casting numbers. I was ideally looking for a starfire engine or a 39° Toro 425. This one's block casting is 386525A and the heads read 383821. From online info, It seems to be a 1965 with 45°cba but I can't find any info about compression, etc. The head numbers seem to say they're from a 1965 400c.i. ?? Any info from you guys would be a great help! Thanks.

I agree with Oldsmaniac that the heads would also match what came on the 1965 425. To verify the original application remove the alternator and look for a stamp on the end of the passengerside head. That stamped code will key out what that head originally came in/on.

So like my 1967 330, there's a headstamp on front passenger head. What does the 383821 designate on the head there near the spark plug?
