headers for 68 cutlass S 455 conv

Please help me find headers for my 68 cutlass S conv. The manufacturers always say except S, or automatic, or convertible. I have all three. My car is a 68 cutlass S conv. with a floor shifted auto. I transplanted the original inline 6 with a 455.

I like the thorley headers but they say except convertible. Doesn't the 442 share the heavy duty frame like the conv?

If you have direct experience with a 68 conv 455, please help me find reasonable priced headers.

Thanks.

Common problem is that manufacturers mis-identify this in their charts. If you search you will see quite a few posts where people have asked this before. The bottom line is headers to fit a Cutlass will fit also fit your Cutlass S convertible.

Headers

I think the problem of getting headers to fit may be that the supreme 442's came with dual exhaust and the cross overs would have been notched for this and the others are not.

Nope. Prior to 1975 (when federally mandated catalytic converters forced all cars to have single exhaust), ALL GM crossmembers were notched for dual exhaust. THERE IS NO "HEADER ISSUE" with Supremes or convertibles, just misinformation.

Thanks everyone for the info. I assumed this to be correct from my research on "442" site which Joe P. has contributed. Thanks Joe. Like many of you, I just need to be sure before I pull the trigger on the family checkbook. No room for errors.

I also have a 68 cutlass S but with a 350 and column shift. What headers will give the best fit?

When I put headers on my 68 442 I went with Mondelo they can build them for whatever car and engine combo you have. Mine fit perfectly and were very easy to install did not have to do any "tweaking" at all.
