Headers for 455

Anyone have any good experience with any certain name brand headers

its for my 79 cutlass with a 455 engine

any input on what the best fitting headers are ?

Shorty headers apparently are better for low end power ?

If you can fit full-length headers in your Oldsmobile without modification I'd figure that would be preferred over shorties. While you won't have as many options as the earlier Cutlii, there should be plenty to choose from.

Either your research or your assumption was flawed, or both.
Shorties add very little if anythng over stack cast iron exhaust manifolds. The "Long tube headers" give a boost in al ranges compared to "stock". "Shorties" and long tube headers have been compared on a dyno before. Cutlassefi is one who has done the comparison and I believe posted results on here. .

Anyways my main objective is not hp gain

it is best fitting headers that will fit my application

wondering if anyone has good examples of which headers you used and best fitting

the main reason for me doing this is that someone mangled my stock headers on the drivers side when they put on the current exhaust and tried welding it and there is a leak there.

So I thought why not take this opportunity to just get new headers

Do a search on this very site and you will have all the info you seek, The Thorton shorties or Sanderson fit well from what I read here in the past.

If you believe internet for "research", why ask the question here ? Just go for it.

im looking for examples of header manufacturers that folks on here have used and fit correctly

if you don’t have any headers or provide any useful input. Can you spend your time doing something else besides commenting with useless info ???

There should be examples in previous questions. I have used Hooker, JR Headers, and I have a set of "off brand" headers that work well.
On this site, we all try to make sure correct information is available. Its quite common for people to post BS and claim they found it by "research". Some people also claim "people they know" told them. Trust me, I have been corrected by JoeP and some others.
My post about Shortie and long tube headers comes from reliable sources that have posted results. Sorry if I ruffled your feathers, but facts and truth are important.

If your objective is not HP gain, why would you bother installing headers in the first place?

Shortie headers have all the headaches of regular headers, with none of the performance gains.

Either install good full length headers, or the true dual exhaust manifolds.
