Harmonic Balancer Repair sleeve

There are several brand options I have found on Rock Auto

Pioneer with no flange

National Redi-Sleeve with flange (which the cup tool uses to install)

Also have read about Speedi-Sleeve
  1. Is there a preferred brand?
  2. If I use the flange style, do I need to remove the flange once installed?

The flange provides an easy way to install the sleeve. The cup tool pushes on the flange, effectively "pulling" the sleeve on instead of pushing it (and risking buckling it). Once in place, the flange gets removed. It is scored so it tears off pretty easily.

I think Speedy sleeve was the first, from SKF. IIRC. If the groove is very deep, it is best to use some metal filler in it before installing sleeve. (JB weld etc.) I then smooth it out. http://www.skf.com/us/products/seals...eve/index.html
