Harmonic balancer

Anyone else have issues installing a new balancer? I bought a PRW balancer from summit a while back. Tried to put it on this week. Got it about 1/2 to 3/4 the way on before it stopped moving. I bent the thick washer that came with the installation tool. I was pulling way too hard. Eventually I stopped and removed everything. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to remove it...but I got it off. Now I'm afraid somethings not machined right. The keyway on the new damper has some chatter marks at the end, deeper than I ever got the damper on. I also noticed it's outside diameter is .020 larger than my original. Is that too much for the seal to compensate for? I know that didn't stop it from going on. I never made it that deep. So should I try again or see if Summit will warranty it?

Do you have a good machine shop near by ? Have them measure it and see what the issue is ? Did you have a stock damper on there before ? You dont have an aftermarket crankshaft by chance do you ?

I just noticed the comment about the .020" oversize od. I would say that is definitely not good.

Would that be the PRW p/n 2445541 ? Not that this will help but I purchased and installed one from Summit on my 350 last July - it went on and seated perfectly with the balancer tool I borrowed from my local Autozone.

I didn't measure the center opening before installing but it went on with essentially the same resistance as the one it replaced (a Powerbond which I had installed back in '16 during the engine rebuild).

Maybe you got one with defective spec needing exchange? It's been great improvement for my engine.
