Yes, seems the trans ,unless built, may suffer.
The turbobuick site has heaps on these trans.
I am in the throes of going with a 200-4r for my 66 toro motor-mildly modded- with the trans rebuild kit in the link immediately below.Hasn`t happened yet so can`t help further.

above does relate to 200-4r and lists all parts reqd for 550 hp

Good rebuild info

yes the 8.5 is a posi out of a 72 chevelle. stock posi for now. the 200 is being built by my dads friend who has been building trans for about 30 years. i told him that the motor would roughly be 450hp/550ft lbs. i dont know all that he is gonna do. he wants a grand put in and everything. would i be better off staying with my th350? im looking to be driving 150 miles one way on the interstate so i need the extra gear. also i will be putting slicks on the car and basiclly be running the sheet out of it killing those stupid ricers.

Rocket. i havent yet planned out everything. i just ordered the book on here for olds. im looking at a 9.5 cr with the mondello JM-22-25-10 0.512 0.523 274°/280°230°236°110°1400-6000. i have been watchin some of your posts. would you consider anything differnt?
im looking to be able to drive it and WOULD like to be able to run 7's in the 1/8th with slicks or drag radials. i dont know alot about olds motors at all .im more in bbc. i have a procharged 454 with 900 RWHP. be awesome if you steer me in the right direction great one

more than anything yes. i know that 454 could be driven every day but where im at i worry about getting stolen. i always have with my cars. my last car a 70 nova 496 got messed with a few times. i just an not in the posistion to get a house until after i get out of school. the 454 has a big hyd. roller with 360cc heads and a super vic. only turns about 6200rpm. makes gobs of power and drinks gobs of gas. with the 455 im looking to get both worlds. if i get a hair i might stick a small turbo on the 455 to see how it would act. i have a 396 that i am thinking of doing a twin turbo setup on with generic headers off ebay. but that is just a thought for now. looking to keeps the olds legacy going on in the cutlass and the chevy in a chevy

I am definately a fan of that! Don't know what made me a "brand purist"... I seems quite alright with me to see a 454 in a Vega, or a 351 in a Pinto... obviously not original motors in those cars... but put a chevy in a ford p/u or *gasp* in an Oldsmobile??? For some reason that's where I draw the line. But I can't tell you why I've developed that opinion.
Look forward to seeing some pix as you progress.
